Abstract
The study provides an insight into the morbidity and frequency of AIDS, hepatitis B and C infections among methadone-treated female drug addicts of childbearing age, as well as the severity and impact factors of their comorbidities and superinfections by investigating this population from a drug-dependent clinic in Wenzhou. Findings from the investigation showed 87 negative anti-HIV cases with an anti-HCV positive rate of 75.86% and HBV-marker detection rate of 72.41%. A very high infection rate of hepatitis B and C was revealed among methadone-treated drug-addict women of childbearing age. Comorbidities or superinfections, often very serious, were observed to complicate their conditions due to long-term and repeated use of contaminated syringes.
