Survey of 3676 minority college students understanding of AIDS-related knowledge in Urumqi

  • Objective The study was conducted to evaluate the understanding of AIDS-related knowledge by minority students from four colleges in the Urumqi city (hereinafter referred to Urumqi). Methods A scene cross-sectional survey was made for 3676 students in the four grades from four universities selected using the multi-stratified cluster sampling approach in Urumqi. Results The overall understanding level of AIDS-related knowledge was low, the average score being 9.94 points (out of 22 points). Lower scores were associated with practical questions or difficult topics. Conclusion Poor AIDS-related knowledge level of minority students in these four universities urges the enactment of AIDS health education program aiming at students in minority areas.
