Evaluation of the effects of combination of antibiotics against brucellosis

  • Objective The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of two combinations of antibiotics, rifampicin plus doxycycline versus rifampicin plus streptomycin, in the treatment of brucellosis. Methods A total of 330 patients with brucellosis at different clinical stages were enrolled to be treated with the two regimes, whose outcomes were documented as an evaluation of the therapeutic effects. Results These combinations of antibiotics proved to be effective with a short-term cure rate of 73.3% and effectiveness of 100%. Conclusion The combinations of antibiotics can be applied in the treatment of brucellosis to expect desirable outcomes.
