Comparison of class B infectious diseases reporting before and after application of direct network reporting in Kaihua county, Zhejiang province

  • Objective The study was conducted to make a comparison between reporting of class B infectious diseases before and after the application of direct network reporting in Kaihua County. Methods A comparison was made between the reported data of class B infectious diseases between 2001 and 2003 and those between 2004 and 2006 reported through the network reporting system. Results The average card-filling time of Class B infectious diseases in healthcare agencies had increased from 4.47 d to 7.20 d after the implementation of direct network reporting, and the average reporting time had decreased from 13.54 d to 3.92 d. The proportional changes of the number of reported infectious diseases in each healthcare agency were statistically significant, so were those of intestinal, respiratory and insect-borne infectious diseases. Conclusion The direct network reporting had increased both the number of reported cases and timeliness of reporting.
