Epidemiological analysis of public health emergencies of infectious disease in Sheyang, Jiangsu province 2006-2007

Objective　The present study was conducted to analyze the epidemiological features of public health emergencies from 2006 to 2007 in Sheyang, so as to provide scientific basis for effective early warning, prevention and control of public health emergencies of infectious disease. Methods　The descriptive epidemiological analysis was performed based on public health emergencies in Sheyang from 2006 to 2007, and the problems in the processes of early warning and control were discussed. Results The 4 public health emergencies from 2006 to 2007 in Sheyang were all school outbreak of infectious diseases (100%), 2 of them were outbreaks of influenza (50%), and 2 of them were outbreaks of chicken pox (50%). All the public health emergencies were controlled well because of good early warning job and effective measures on time. Conclusion　Effective, multi-level early warning system and the expending immunization barrier of students were the most significant measures to find out epidemic outbreak in time, so as to do well in prevention and control of the epidemic situation.
