Analysis of epidemic features of notifiable infectious diseases in Taiyuan city, 2004-2007

  • Objective To analyze the epidemic features of notifiable infectious diseases in Taiyuan. Methods The descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the reported incidence data of notifiable infectious diseases in Taiyuan, 2004-2007. Results A total of 78 616 cases of 24 notifiable infectious diseases were reported in Taiyuan from 2004 to 2007 with the average incidence rate of 573.14/lakh. The annual incidence rates were 522.92/lakh, 622.95/lakh, 548.41/lakh and 597.81/lakh, respectively, the highest rate was in 2005. Conclusion The overall incidence rate increased in the past four years, and major diseases had changed from enteric infectious diseases to blood borne/sexually transmitted diseases with hepatitis B ranked at the first other than dysentery. The incidence of tuberculosis remained high, and the incidence of syphilis showed some increase, which had been under control.
