Quality evaluation of network reporting of infectious disease in Jinan, 2007

  • Objective The study was made to investigate the factors influencing the promptness of the report of infectious diseases in Jinan city and the measures to improve the promptness. Methods Analysis was made on the report cards of the infectious diseases reported by the Report and Management System of Disease Surveillance Information in Jinan city in 2007. Results In 2007, a total of 33 457 cards were reported in the city with an average report time of 0.09 day. Most reporting time of medical institutions was 8:30-11:00 or 14:00-17:00, accounting 76.96% of the total reports. Most of report verification (52.18%) was performed in the center for disease control at 8:30-11:00 and 14:00-17:00. The promptness of infectious disease report was 99.80% in 2007, and that of verification 99.90%. The highest promptness of reporting was 100.00% in Zhangqiu city, the lowest 98.61% in Zhangqing district. The highest promptness of verification was 100.00% in Huaiyin district, Tianqiao district and Zhangqiu city, the lowest 99.21% in Licheng district. Conclusion The network report of infectious disease was very timely and accurate. However, significant difference was present in the quality of report in different counties. It is required to establish agents specifically responsible for network reporting and management of epidemics and timely report and verification of reporting cards to promote the report quality in Jinan city.
