Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the ITreponema pallidum/I infection status among voluntary blood donors and the risk factors related in Hanghzou. MethodsA total of 754 293 volunteers donated blood at the Blood Center of Zhejiang province from 2002 to 2007, and the detection of ITreponema pallidum/I infection was conducted among them by ITreponema pallidum/I particle agglutination test (TPPA) and toluidine red unheated serum test (TRUST). The ITreponema pallidum/I IgM positive indicated recent infection. ResultsAmong 1007 infected persons, 889 were infected recently and 118 were infected in the past, the infection rate increased by 3 times in 2007 compared with that in 2002. ConclusionThe overall infection rate of ITreponema pallidum/I among voluntary blood donors in Hangzhou was higher than that in European countries, and the recent infection rate increased year by year. So it is important to conduct consecutive surveillance and predonating consultation for voluntary blood donors.
