Analysis of HIV antibody detection among different populations in Pinghu city, Zhejiang province, 2005-2007

  • ObjectiveTo investigate the HIV infection status among different populations in Pinghu city, discuss the risk factors of HIV infection, and provide the evidence for the development of AIDS prevention and control strategies. MethodsThe blood samples were taken from different populations for HIV antibody detection. ResultsA total of 21 569 subjects received the HIV antibody detection and 7 people aged 25-37 years were HIV antibody positive, including 5 men and 2 women (sex ratio: 2.5∶1). Among them one was local resident, others were immigrants from other provinces (85.71%). Of 7 HIV infected people, three had drug injection history (42.86%); two had non-marital sexual history (28.57%). ConclusionThe HIV detection rate was relatively low among different populations in Pinghu, and most infected people were immigrants. The main infection route was blood transmission, followed by sexual contact.
