Abstract
ObjectiveTo discuss the clinical features of congenital syphilis. MethodsThe retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical manifestations, laboratory examinations, treatment and outcomes of 34 congenital syphilis cases from 2001 to 2007 in Suichang. ResultsAsymptomatic congenital syphilis cases accounted for 17.65% of the total cases. ConclusionThe clinical features of the children with congenital syphilis were complex, including premature birth, skin and mucous damage, splenohepatomegalia and respiratory symptoms. Liver function lesion, pulmonary infection, bone lesion, proteinuria/hematuria and anemia/thrombocytopenia were often found by laboratory tests and auxiliary examination. Asymptomatic congenital syphilis cases accounted for a certain proportion of the total cases; but most cases can be treated effectively.
