Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) in the people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), in order to conduct treatment for the people co-infected with HIV and TB. MethodsRegistered PLWHA received the screening including interrogation about symptoms, chest X ray and sputum smears. ResultsThirty three TB cases were detected among 577 PLWHA recruited in the screening with the prevalence rate of 5.72%. Thirty one active pulmonary TB cases were detected with the prevalence rate of 5.37%, and 4 sputum smear positive cases were detected with the positive rate of 0.69%. The detection rate of TB among the people infected with HIV was 3.36%, and the detection rate of TB among AIDS patients was 12.50%, the difference had statistical significance (I/Isup2/sup=16.36, IP/I<0.01). ConclusionPLWHA is the high risk population for TB, it is necessary to conduct regular TB screening for the early detection and early treatment of TB cases.
