Analysis of implementation of tuberculosis control project for 5 years in Anfu county, Jiangxi province

ObjectiveTo analyze the effect of implementation of tuberculosis (TB) control project in Anfu county. MethodsThe data from the first visit patients register, TB patient register, lab register, quarterly report form of TB prevention and control from 2003 to 2007 in Anfu were analyzed. ResultsThe case finding and treatment of TB had been improved since 2003 when the TB control project was started to implement. From 2003-2007, 4531suspected pulmonary TB patients were receipted and 2291 active pulmonary TB cases were found, including 825 smear-positive cases. The positive sputum detection rate, the new smear positive registration rate and curing rate of pulmonary TB patients increased from 24.24%, 15.97/lakh, 93.54% in 2003 to 25.50%, 45.90/lakh, 94.94% in 2007. ConclusionAfter the implementation of TB control project in Anfu, the infection source of pulmonary TB was under effective control and expected effect was achieved.
