Routine surveillance of pulmonary tuberculosis in Ningbo, 2002-2007

  • ObjectiveTo explore the epidemiological features of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and the factors related to its incidence in Ningbo from 2002 to 2007. MethodsDescriptive epidemiology study and cohort study were conducted to analyze the routine surveillance data. ResultsDuring this period, 20 817 active TB cases and 9756 smear positive TB cases were detected accumulatively with the registration rates increasing by 52.78% and 18.01% respectively. The age of cases tended to be younger. The P/I value (1.01) for average registration interval had never changed. The comprehensive effect of case finding and control increased by 1.13 times. ConclusionThe effect of DOTS strategy of TB control project in Ningbo was obvious, but it is urgent to explore the way to manage the TB patients in floating population and obtain the baseline data of local drug resistance.
