Evaluation on measles supplementary immunization activity in Tianzhu county, Guizhou

ObjectiveTo evaluate the measles supplementary immunization activity (SIA) in Tianzhu County in 2004 and provide evidence for developing the strategies to accelerate the measles control. MethodsThe comprehensive analysis was conducted on the preparedness, implementation and assessment (data collecting and coverage survey) of the SIA and the incidence of measles since the implementation of SIA. ResultsA total of 64 782 children were reached by SIA, both reported coverage rate and surveyed coverage rate were over 95％. The incidence of measles decreased by 98.56％ compared with the average annual incidence during 2000-2004. ConclusionThe effect of measles SIA in Tianzhu was great. High quality measles SIA can reduce the incidence of measles quickly.
