Abstract
ObjectiveTo find out the HBV infection status and antibody level of the children under five years old in Hefei, provide the scientific basis for the effective prevention of hepatitis B. MethodsBy stratified sampling, blood samples were taken from the children aged 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 years old in 7 counties in Hefei in October, 2007, the detection of samples was performed by using ELISA and the results were analyzed by using SPSS. ResultsAmong 851 samples taken from the children with different ages, 23 were positive for HBV, the infection rate was 2.70%. The differences on infection rate for different aged children had no statistical significance (IP/I0.05). One HBV carrier was found (0.12%). The antibody to HBV was detected in 463 children (54.41%), The differences on antibody positive rate for different aged children had statistical significance (IP/I0.05). ConclusionThe prevention and control of hepatitis B in Hefei has made great achievement since the implementation of hepatitis B vaccination, so the epidemic of hepatitis B children was controlled effectively.
