Survey on knowledge, attitude, belief and practice about driving under the influence of alcohol among drivers in Liuzhou, Guangxi

ObjectiveTo learn about the knowledge, attitude, belief and practice (KABP) about driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) among vehicle drivers in Liuzhou. MethodsCross-sectional study was applied to conduct questionnaire survey among the vehicle drivers randomly selected at the intersections randomly selected in the city. ResultsA total of 5592 drivers were asked to stop to receive questionnaire survey and 5569 correctly answered questionnaires were obtained. It was found that 84.26% of the drivers did not know national blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit, only 24.70% of them had been asked to stop by police for BAC testing and 0.45% of them had been warned and penalized for drunk driving in 2 years, 15.68% of them believed that DUI would be found by police and 32.57%% of them drank wine once a week or more. Only 22.06% of the citizens who knew these drivers said that they would persuade the drivers not to drive under the influence of alcohol. ConclusionThe awareness of the laws and regulations to prohibit DUI and the implementation of these laws and regulations among the drivers and citizens was not high and the risk of DUI was not fully realized by them in Liuzhou, It is necessary to take effective measures to reduce DUI.
