Abstract
ObjectiveTo determine the situation of infection and subtype distribution associated with human papillomavirus(HPV) among female visitors to the gynecologic clinic of Lishui Peoples Hospital. MethodsCervical swabs collected from 246 patients from October 2006 to June 2007 were subject to gene-chip genetic detection invovling 23 genotypes of HPV. RseultsA total of 125 (50.8%) out of 246 women were identified as HPV-positive, including 54 (21.9%) of HPV-16, 21 (8.5%) of HPV-58 and 50 (20.3%) of others. Thirty-nine subjects were found to have been infected with two or more subtypes of HPV (15.8%), and 86 with one sole subtype (35.0%). Meanwhile, 39 HPV-positive patients were identified among 55 subjects that had cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), 11 HPV-positive ones among 12 with cervical cancer, and 11 HPV-positive ones among 13 with cervical condyloma acuminata. ConclusionIt is key to prevention and control of HPV infection in conjunction with appropriate management of CIN, which plays a significant part in the management of cervical cancer.
