Screening analysis of 2913 cases of HPV infection of the genital tract

  • ObjectiveThe study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of Human papillomavirus(HPV) infection among women in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, and determine the age distribution and the correlation of different subtypes with cervical lesions. MethodsPCR amplification and reverse dot blot DNA chip technology were employed to identify the HPV subtypes for 2913 cases of HPV infection of the genital tract that visited the central gynecological hospital in Taizhou. ResultsThe overall HPV infection rate was 35.08%, the top five subtypes with the highest rates including HPV16(7.76%), HPV11(7.38%), HPV52(6.25%), HPV33(4.81%) and HPV58(4.50%). ConclusionHPV infections were primarily prevalent in the age group under forty years old, of which high-risk HPV infections were prominent, suggesting high correlation between the infection and the onset of cervical lesions.
