Analysis on epidemiology of notifiable communicable diseases in Chuanshan district of Suining city, Sichuan province, 2004 - 2008

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of notifiable communicable diseases in Chuanshan district in Suining from 2004 to 2008 and provide evidence for the development of prevention strategy and management of the diseases. Methods Reported incidence data of the diseases in ChuanShan district from 2004 to 2008 were analyzed by using descriptive epidemiology. Results From 2004 to 2008, the average annual incidence rate of the diseases was 951.11/lakh and the death rate was 0.90/lakh. The incidence rates of enteric infectious disease and respiratory disease declined by year, but the incidence rates of blood-borne disease and sexually transmitted disease remained at high level. The higher incidence rate was found in urban area and the zone joining city and countryside. Conclusion The overall incidence of notifiable communicable diseases declined in Chuanshan district from 2004 to 2008. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of blood-borne disease and sexual transmitted disease as well as the prevention and control of communicable diseases in urban area and the zone joining city and countryside.
