Survey on underreporting of notifiable communicable disease in medical facilities in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, 2007 - 2008

  • Objective To understand the underreporting of notifiable communicable disease and other reporting indicators in the medical facilities in Taizhou during 2007 - 2008. Methods The survey was conducted in 48 medical facilities selected by representative sampling and simple random sampling in Taizhou during this period. Results The overall underreporting rate in these medical facilities was 5.74%, the completeness rate of reporting card filling was 87.96% in 2007 and 93.98% in 2008, and the consistent rate was 78.12% and 87.50% respectively. The registration rate of outpatient patients was 48.77%. Conclusion The quality of notifiable communicable disease reporting (including underreporting) in the medical facilities in Taizhou varied by their levels, it is necessary to strengthen the management of notifiable communicable disease reporting.
