Surveillance of perinatal death in Wenzhou Zhejiang

  • Objective To understand the perinatal mortality in the local population and floating population in Wenzhou. Methods The perinatal death data from 2006 to 2008 were analyzed according to the perinatal death surveillance scheme in Zhejiang province. Results The difference on perinatal mortality between local population and floating population was significant. The perinatal mortality in floating population was significantly higher than that in local population. The incidence of perinatal death due to birth defect was higher in local population, and the incidence of perinatal death due to placental factors and fetal factors was higher in floating population. Conclusion The perinatal mortality in floating population showed a obvious decline trend. It is necessary to strengthen the health education to improve the self protection and increase the coverage rate of systematic perinatal care among the women in floating population to prevent premature birth and placental abruption as well as decrease the perinatal mortality in floating population.
