Abstract
Objective To provide basic data for the construction of community security by analyzing the epidemiological characteristics of injuries among community residents.
Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted with 8722 residents from a community selected by stratified cluster random sampling.
Results The standardized incidence rate of injure was 1.49%, with a male to female ratio of 1.18 ∶ 1. Falling, traffic accidents and knives/sharp instruments constituted the major causes of injury. The highest incidence rate was found in the elderly, while the lowest was among children. Falling was the primary cause of injury in all age groups, while traffic accidents were the major cause of injury in young adults.
Conclusion Injuries constituted a hazardous factor remarkably detrimental to the health of community residents. Therefore, injury prevention and control should be further strengthened.
