Epidemic features of notifiable communicable diseases in Pucheng county of Shaanxi province,2004 - 2008

Objective To analyze the epidemic features of notifiable communicable diseases in Pucheng county, Shaanxi province and provide scientific evidence for the development and revise of prevention and control measures. Methods The descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of notifiable communicable diseases from 2004 to 2008. Results A total of 10 394 cases of 21 notifiable communicable diseases were reported in Pucheng during this period with average incidence rate of 272.21/lakh. The annual incidence rate was 350.59/lakh,279.37/lakh,258.19/lakh,220.78/lakh and 254.31/lakh respectively. Conclusion The overall incidence declined in the past five years. Blood borne/sexually transmitted diseases were the major ones with hepatitis B ranked at the first place, and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis showed an increase trend.
