Quality analysis of the communicable disease network reporting system in a PLA hospital

  • The network reporting system for communicable diseases was put into operation from April,2007 in a hospital of Peoples Liberation Army. The report cards of various departments collected from May 1,2007 to May 31,2009 were compared with the disease spectrum of discharged patients recorded in the hospital information system. It was found that the number of reported cards, timeliness of report and accuracy of card filling had escalated greatly than before. Therefore, the establishment of a direct network reporting system improved the timeliness of epidemic reporting and increased the number of qualified report cards of communicable disease filled by medical workers, reducing false negatives and detention. Corresponding improvement suggestions were proposed in this study to address issues such as non-standard filling of report cards.
