Abstract
An outbreak of acute paragonimiasis occurred in June 2008, Taizhou, which was caused by eating uncooked drunk crabs. Among all patients, 16 had consumed the raw food, with an attack rate if 87.5%. The average incubation period was 5 days. The clinical manifestations included abdominal distention, diarrhea and obvious elevation of peripheral leukocytes and eosinophil percentage. Epidemiological analysis confirmed the cause of this acute paragonimiasis outbreak was raw freshwater crabs.
