Surveillance of vaccination adverse events in Pinghu, Zhejiang province

  • Objective To understand the incidence of adverse events due to vaccination in Pinghu, and provide evidence for the improvement of vaccination and performance of surveillance. Methods The surveillance of adverse event was conducted among the vaccinees according to the surveillance scheme of vaccination adverse event in Zhejiang. Results The overall incidence rate of adverse events due to vaccination was 59.25/lakh. The first five vaccines with high incidence of adverse event were whole cell vaccines against diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTwP) (320.03/lakh), acellular vaccines against diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTaP) (184.34/lakh), diphtheria-tetanus vaccine (DT) (178.32/lakh), 23 strains polyvalent pneumococcal vaccine (PneV23) (170.88/lakh) and A+C meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MPV-A+C) (72.36/lakh). Conclusion It is necessary to conduct pre-examination, improve vaccination technique and strengthen the surveillance to reduce the incidence of adverse event of vaccination.
