Evaluation of report quality of infectious disease in Baojj city, 2008

  • Objective To evaluate the quality of communicable disease reporting after the implementation of network direct reporting in Baoji, Shaanxi province, explore the influence factors. Methods The reporting data of class B and C communicable diseases in Baoji in 2008 were obtained from national disease reporting information system and analyzed statistically. Results Communicable disease reporting was mainly from general hospital, accounting for 76.29% of the total, The overall direct reporting rate was 89.05% for the medical institutions at all level with 89.87% in general hospital and 96.75% in township health centers.The rate of timely epidemic reporting was up to 99.71%, an increase of 3.20% compared with 2007.The timely verification rate was 99.84%, an increased of 1.06% compared with 2007. One duplicated reporting card and four misreporting cards were found, No non-verified reporting and underreporting were found. Conclusion Timeliness of reporting and its verification or duplicated reporting were the major factors to influence the reporting quality in Baojj. Since the reporting quality varied by different counties and districts, the standard management of network direct reporting needs further improved.
