Review of study on marital status and sex behavior features of men who have sex with men

  • Men who have sex with men (MSM) is a high risk population for HIV/AIDS transmission. The HIV infection rate among MSM in China increased rapidly in recent years. The proportion of MSM who got married is relatively high in China. The married MSM would have either homosexual or heterosexual behavior after they got married, which would be risk for their wives, sexual partners and themselves to be infected with HIV/STD, and cause the cross infection among different populations and the spread of the epidemic. This paper will give a review of recent published research literatures on married MSM both in China and in other countries, and summaries the demographic feature, marital status, sexual behavior and HIV infection status of this population.
