Survey on the carriage of Yersinia in rodents in silent period of plague in Wenzhou

  • Objective To explore the Yersinia carriage of rodents in silent period of plague in Wenzhou. Methods Cage-trap method was used to capture live rodents for the isolation of Yersinia from the intestinal contents. Results A total of 687 rodents were captured, and the indoors rats accounted for 91.27%. Eighty one strains of Yersinia were isolated, the detection rate was 11.79%. Yersinia enterocolitica ranked first, accounting for 79.01%, followed by Yersinia intermedia(11.11%), Yersinia kristensenii(7.40%) and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis(2.47%). Conclusion The carriage rate of Yersinia among rodents was high in Wenzhou, and indoor rodents carried different Yersinia, but wild rodents only carried Yersinia enterocolitica.
