Epidemiological survey and treatment of one case of human granulocytic anaplasmosis in Anhui province

  • In May 2009, one suspected case of human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA) was reported in Tongling, Anhui province. It was not known whether the case had tick bite before the onset of the disease. The typical clinical manifestations included hyperthermy, muscular soreness, inguinales lymphadenectasis and general discomfort, progressive falling of white cell counts and blood platelets counts, disfunction of urine routine and liver function. The HGA-specific IgG antibody was positive in acute phase and 4 fold increase of IgG was observed in convalescence phase. The case was diagnosed as human granulocytic anaplasmosis and cured. By comprehensive measures of isolation and treatment, personal protection and disinfection, the epidemic was effectively controlled and no secondary case occurred.
