Abstract
Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of sexual transmitted diseases (STDs) in Yongjia county from 2004 to 2009 and discuss the prevention and treatment strategy.
Methods The data of STDs in Yongjia county from January 1,2004 to December 31,2009 were collected from national diseases reporting information system and analyzed by using Excel and SPSS.
Results The incidence of STDs increased during this period, syphilis, pointed condyloma and gonorrhea were the major diseases. Extramarital sexual contact was the main transmission route. Most cases were farmers and migrant workers.
Conclusion Commercial sex behavior caused the fast spread of STDs, so it is necessary to strengthen advising and health education among high risk population to prevent and control STDs.
