Epidemiology of hepatitis C in Fujian province, 2004 - 2009

Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristic of hepatitis C in Fujian. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of hepatitis C in Fujian from 2004 to 2009, and ARIM model was used in fitting the monthly incidence of hepatitis C to compare with actual incidence. Results The average annual incidence of hepatitis C was 2.51/lakh during this period, the incidence increased by years without obvious seasonality The case number and incidence of hepatitis C were highest in Putian in the province. The incidence in males was higher than that in females, and the incidence was higher in older age group. The cases in farmers accounted for the largest proportion. Conclusion The incidence of hepatitis C in Fujian has increased gradually in recent years. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of hepatitis C among risk population and in the areas with high incidence.
