Abstract
Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of measles in Yingkou from 2005 to 2009.
Methods The incidence data of measles from 2005 to 2009 were collected from national disease reporting information system and analyzed by using Excel 2003.
Results From 2005 to 2009, a total of 1583 measles cases were reported in Yingkou with average annual incidence of 13.54/lakh. The incidence peak was noted during March-June of a year. The cases were mainly the people aged <40 years. The cases in infants under 1 year old accounted for 20.47% of the total.
Conclusion The incidence of measles declined in Yingkou. Most cases occurred in adults and young children. It is necessary to increase the timely measles vaccination coverage, pay close attention to adult vaccination and strengthen the training of health care providers.
