Expression of T lymphocyte and regulatory T lymphocyte in patients with measles

  • Objective To understand the changes in T-lymphocyte and regulatory T-lymphocyte expression in adults and children infected with measles in acute and convalescence periods. Methods Forty adults infected with measles and 40 children infected with measles were selected. The proportions of CD+3T cell, CD+4helper T-lymphocyte (Th), CD+8cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (Tc) and CD+4CD+25 regulatory T-lymphocyte (Treg) in their peripheral blood in acute and convalescence periods were determined with flow cytometry assay. Results In adults, the expression of CD+3T cells and CD+4Th declined and the expression of CD+4CD+25 Treg increased in acute period compared with control group, while the expression of CD+4Th increased, the expression of CD+8Tc declined and CD+4/CD+8increased in convalescence period. In children, the expression of CD+3 T cells and CD+4Th declined in acute period compared with control group, and CD+3 T cell increased in convalescence period. Conclusion T-lymphocyte and regulatory T-lymphocyte take part in the regulation of immune state in adults and children infected with measles, but their expressions differ in two groups.
