Epidemiology of HIV/AIDS in Quzhou,2002-2010

  • Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS in Quzhou and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of HIV/AIDS reported in Quzhou from 2002 to 2010. Results A total of 185 cases of HIV/AIDS were reported, of which 51 were AIDS cases and 14 were fatal. The male to female ratio of the cases was 4.97∶1. Most cases occurred in age group of 20-49 years, and the majority of the cases were farmers and migrant workers. Sexual contact was the major transmission route (64.86%). Conclusion The incidence of HIV/AIDS was in rapid increase in Quzhou, and the disease tended to spread from high risk population to general population. Sexual transmission, particularly among MSM, was in increase. Comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent and control the spread of HIV/AIDS.
