Progress in epidemiological research of congenital rubella syndrome

Objective Since 20th century, congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) surveillance has been conducted in a number of countries in America, Europe and Asia, which has provided scientific evidences for the development of effective and feasible immunization strategies. However, No systematic CRS surveillance is conducted in China although local CRS case reporting and epidemiological survey are carried out in some provinces. This paper summarizes the progress in epidemiological research of CRS at home and abroad for the purpose to conduct effective CRS surveillance.
