Epidemiology of notifiable communicable diseases in Jinhua, Zhejiang, 2004-2010

  • Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of notifiable communicable diseases in Jinhua. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the surveillance data of notifiable communicable diseases in Jinhua from 2004 to 2010. Results A total of 228 535 cases of 28 diseases in class A, B and C were reported in Jinhua during this period. The average annual morbidity was 663.57/lakh, and the average annual mortality was 0.76/lakh. The priority diseases included hepatitis B, pulmonary tuberculosis and syphilis with the morbidity of 103.76/lakh, 92.54/lakh and 63.73/lakh respectively. Conclusion The morbidities of enteric infections (infectious diarrhea), blood borne or sexual transmitted diseases ( hepatitis B and syphilis) and respiratory infectious diseases (pulmonary tuberculosis) are in increase in recent years in Jinhua, which has posed great risk to the peoples health, it is necessary to further strengthen the prevention and control of these diseases.
