Abstract
Objective To study the drug susceptibility of Cronobacter spp. isolated from the infant powdered formula and rice flour in 11 provinces. Methods The drug susceptibility test of 60 strains of Cronobacter spp. was conducted with disk diffusion method. Results Most strains (93.5%) were sensitive to cefepime, imipenem, meropenem, ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, but 4 strains were resistant to all the antibiotics used in this study, four strains were resistant to cefuroxime and 1 strain was resistant to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid. Conclusion Among 60 strains of Cronobacter spp. in this study, 56 were sensitive to most antibiotics used for Enterobacter infection in hospitals, 4 were highly resistant. The further study is needed to understand the resistant mechanism of these strains.
