Abstract
On 9 May 2011,two cases of meningococcal disease were reported in a hospital in Labin. The clinical manifestation of the patients included fever, headache, vomiting and stiff neck. The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples of the patients were purulent. Neisseria meningitides serogroup W135 was detected. The patients were cured after treatment and the epidemic was effectively controlled by taking comprehensive measures including patient isolation, vaccination, and health education.
