Abstract
Objective To understand the prevalence of HIV infection and syphilis among men who have sex with men (MSM) in different places in Jinan. Methods An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among MSM selected by snowball sampling, blood samples were taken from them for HIV and TP antibody test. Results Of 1655 MSM surveyed, 52 were infected with HIV (3.1%). The HIV infection rates among MSM in bathhouses,barrooms, parks and internet bars were 4.7%, 11.1%, 1.1% and 2.8% respectively. The overall condom use rate was 49.4%. Conclusion The prevalence of HIV infection was high among the MSM, the prevention and control of HIV infection should be strengthened among them. The differences on HIV infection rates among MSM in different places were statistical significant. Active and effective prevention and control measures should be taken according to the behavior characteristics of the MSM.
