Analysis on suspected cases of thrombocytopenia accompanied by fever in Yantai, Shandong

Objective To understand the infection status of novel bunyavirus among suspected cases of thrombocytopenia accompanied by fever in Yantai, Shandong province. Methods The specific nucleic acid of novel bunyavirus were extracted from serum samples of suspected cases of thrombocytopenia accompanied by fever using double probe real-time. Results Among the 135 serum samples, 81 were the specific nucleic acid positive(60.00%). The nucleic acid positive rate was the highest within 5-8 days after onset. The incidence peak mainly occurred during May-August. The cases were distributed in people aged 37-87 years, but the case number in age group 60-70 years was highest(26/81), accounting for 32.10%. Totally 92.59% of the cases were farmers(75/81). The male to female ratio was 1.79:1. Conclusion Thrombocytopenia accompanied by fever caused by novel bunyavirus infection was detected in Yantai.
