Epidemiology of hand, foot and mouth disease in Jincheng in Shanxi, 2008-2011

Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of hand, foot and mouth disease(HFMD) in Jincheng, Shanxi province. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of HFMD in Jincheng from 2008 to 2011. Results A total of 3302 HFMD cases were reported without death in Jincheng during this period, the average annual incidence was 36.50/lakh. The differences in the incidences among years had statistical significance (PConclusion The area, season, gender and age specific differences in incidence of HFMD were obvious in Jincheng.
