Abstract
Objective To understand the natural infection status of Neisseria meningitidis serogroups W135 and Y among healthy population and provide evidence for the prevention and control of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis. Methods From October 2011 to March 2012. a total of 1084 healthy people aged 0-74 years were selected trough age-stratified random sampling. Blood samples were taken from them to detect IgG level of N. meningitidis W135 and Y with ELISA. Results The detection rate of antibody to W135 was 25.65%, the proportion of people with protective antibody level was 11.81% and the antibody geometric mean concentration (GMC) was 1.49 g/ml. The difference in antibody positive rate in different age group had statistical significance (2=66.973,P0.01). The positive rate in age group 30-39 years was highest (39.66%).The detection rate of antibody to Y was 10.98%. The proportion of people with protective antibody level was 6.55% and the antibody GMC was 1.32 g/ml. The difference in antibody positive rate in different age group had statistical significance (2=27.832,P0.01). The positive rate in age group 20-29 years was highest (17.21%). Conclusion People are usually susceptible to N. meningitidis W135 and Y. It is necessary to strengthen the surveillance of N. meningitidis to prevent the outbreak of W135 or Y serogroup.
