Case-control study on sexual HIV transmission between husband and wife in Luan, Anhui

Objective To analyze the characteristics of HIV transmission and related factors between husband and wife, and provide evidence for AIDS prevention and control. Methods A case-control study was conducted,the case group was HIV infected couples in whom the transmission occurred through sexual contact with infected husband or wife, and the control group was healthy couples. Results Univariate analysis showed that STD history of husband or wife (2=3.925, P=0.048)and sexual behavior frequency (2=17.3,P=0.001)were the risk factors leading to HIV infection between husband and wife. The logistic regression analysis indicated that STD history of husband or wife (OR=7.06, 95%CI:1.13-44.19), having sexual behavior for 1-2 times per week (OR=10.01, 95% CI:2.65-38.47) and having sexual behavior for 3 times per week (OR=6.14, 95% CI:1.39-27.18) were the independent risk factors for HIV transmission between husband and wife. Conclusion STD history of husband or wife, having sexual behavior for 1-2 times and 3 times per week are the risk factors of HIV transmission between husband and wife.
