Survey of a measles outbreak caused by genotype D8 virus

From March 31 to April 19,2013, a measles outbreak occurred in Fengtai district, and 4 cases were reported. The laboratory detection confirmed that measles virus D8 was the pathogen. This was the first report of measles virus D8 outbreak. The risk factors included the large number of susceptible population, incomplete vaccination of the first case. It is important to strengthen the measles immunization in floating population, improve the vaccination practice in emergency and pay attention to the result of measles virus genotype surveillance.
