Evaluation of DPT vaccination in Tongchuan, Shaanxi, 2012

  • Objective To evaluate the immunization effect of DPT vaccine in health population in Tongchuan, Shaanxi province, and provide scientific evidence for the development of effective immunization strategy of DPT. Methods Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted to detect pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus IgG antibody levels in school-aged children before and after DPT vaccination. Results After full vaccination, the pertussis antibody positive conversion rate was 88.59%, the antibody’s geometric mean concentration (GMC) increased by 16 times; the diphtheria antibody positive conversion rate was 100%, the GMC increased by 130 times; the tetanus antibody positive conversion rate was 100%, the GMC increased by 57 times. Conclusion The DPT vaccination was successful in Tongchuan, but the duration of pertussis vaccine protection was short.
