Abstract
Objective To understand the prevalence of acquired immunodeficiency diseases(AIDS) in the drug users in Dazhou, Sichuan province. Methods The analysis was conducted on the sentinel surveillance data of AIDS in Dazhou in 2012 obtained from national AIDS reporting system. Results The detection rate of HIV infection was 9.20% in drug users in Dazhou in 2012. The detection rate was 8.59% in males and 11.35% in females. The detection rate in Dazhu county was 34.44%, which was obviously higher than the overall rate and the rates in Quxian (1.25%) and Tongchuan (1.00%). Conclusion The extent of HIV infection in the drug users varies with area in Dazhou, The prevalence of AIDS is high in drug users in Dazhu compared with the surrounding counties. It is necessary to conduct targeted prevention and control of AIDS in these areas.
