Epidemiology of pulmonary tuberculosis in Tongcheng, Anhui, 2010-2012

Objective To understand the epidemiological pattern of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in Tongcheng, Anhui province, and provide scientific evidences to further control of TB and effective management of TB cases. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of TB in Tongcheng from 2010 to 2012. Results A total of 2150 TB cases were reported during this period, the annual average incidence was 106.63/lakh (123.90/lakh in 2010, 100.45/lakh in 2011 and 95.14/lakh in 2012), The TB incidence had no obvious seasonality; The male to female ratio of the cases was 2.78 : 1(χ2=517.83, PConclusion It is necessary to further implement modern TB control strategy strictly. Farmers and migrant workers are key populations in TB prevention and control. The TB prevention and treatment in elderly should be strengthened and close attention should be paid to the incidence of TB in adolescents.
