Detection of Vibrio cholerae non-O1 non-O139 from a patients with leukemia

In August 2012, Vibrio cholerae was detected from the blood sample collected from a bacteraemia case, who was a six years old child with recurrent leukemia Medical Center in Pudong district, Shanghai. The biochemical identification, virulence gene detection and drug susceptibility test of the isolate were conducted in Pudong District Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The results indicated that the strain was non toxigenic V. cholerae non-O1 non-O139.
