Survey of a Vibrio parahaemolytisus poisoning event after wedding feast in rural area in Huzhou of Zhejiang, China

  • Epidemiological survey was conducted for a Vibrio parahaemolytisus poisoning event after wedding feast in rural area in Huzhou of Zhejiang province, in which 17 cases occurred. Food samples, water samples and patient's stool samples and anal swabs were collected. Vibrio parahaemolytisus strains were isolated from 16 anal swabs, 1 stool sample and food samples (lobster, tiger grouper, ginkgo fish and lettuce), Serotyping indicated that all the strains belonged to type O3:K6 and had similar biological characteristics. It is necessary to improve the management of wedding feast in rural area to prevent and reduce food poisoning in rural area.
